7. You can connect different devices at this point, say Yes or No.

8. If you want a digital assistant, select Cortana Help.

9. Then Turn Everything OFF here. The reason I turn everything OFF is that you don't want Microsoft to detect it and send my information to advertisers. So Turn Everything OFF.

Now, wait and windows setting everything up for this point to speed up.

2. Take a Snapshot of your Computer

It is possible to take a snapshot of your computer. Also known as a system image when you first bought it. So there are different types of computer attacks. So in case, a virus attacked a forced windows update that crashed your computer, or even something as nimble as your computer no longer meets the same operating standards.

Once you remember, you can always go back to this snapshot, and in less than 2 minutes your computer will behave as if it is ready to go.

1. Turn ON your new computer, do the setup, but whatever you do, don't connect to the internet, even if your laptop asks you to.

The reason for this is that your hardware manufacturer has done their due diligence to ensure that the hardware and software at the time work perfectly together.

We don't want a force update, we don't want a force windows update right now that may or may not break your computer. It is an unnecessary risk, please do not connect to the internet at this time.

2. Download Macrium Reflect using another computer or if you do not have another computer connected to the Internet briefly. Download the program and disconnect it as soon as you can. Install and run it.

Congratulations, now you can live happily in the knowledge that no matter what happens to your laptop in the future that may screw things up, you can always return it to its original state.

Now, we will know that how to restore your laptop using the snapshot you have taken, you do not have to do it now of course, but this is useful knowledge so please keep this information. Assuming at some point in the future you have decided that it is time, make sure you have a backup of all your files before doing this because this will return your computer to its pure state where all your files do not exist within its first place.

6. The first thing we need to do is Create a Master Bootable USB Drive to a spare USB flash drive you have laying around it and plugged it in.

7. Click on the Other Task and then click the Create Rescue Media Option.

8. Select your Drive and Click Build.

Understand that if you are doing this then because of the virus. You might want to build this master boot USB using another computer instead.

When done, you can close the program, your computer will return to its original state as you just bought it as new. Some of you may wonder why you don't just use the windows build reset function instead. Well, first of all, restore speed is quite fast using this method. Now the real reason to use this method is what I taught you. You will be able to save multiple states on your computer. You can save one state for when you just bought your computer and another one where all the programs you needed are installed so that you can return to that snapshot and not have to reinstall all your programs, which for me could take up to a whole day.

3. Remove All the Crap from your New Laptop

I'm sure you will agree that most windows laptops these days come with a ton of Bloatware and getting rid of that should be one of your top priorities. While you can install all of them one by one, I recommend that you download PC Decrapifier. A handy utility that will remove all the crap from your new laptop. Also, you can use its other alternatives.

1. Download the Free Version of PC Decrapifier.

2. Run the executable click on Analyze and let the software run its course.

3. Once it's done, it brings up a list of all the pre-installed software does found on your system.

4. Select the Programs that you wish to Remove click on the Remove selected and you're done.

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

While PC Decrapifier can remove bloatware from your system it cannot remove all of the pre-installed windows apps some of which are not that useful.

5. For this, you will need to run the following command in Windows Powershell.
Get-AppxPackage -allusers | Remove-AppxPackage*

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

6. Open the Start Menu search for PowerShell and right-click Open as an Administrator.

7. Here, Type the Command and Press Enter. that's it. Now all the pre-installed windows apps will be removed from the system.

But before you go ahead and do that one more detail you should know. The command will also remove the windows store app from your system along with a couple of other handy apps that you might need in the future where you can easily install all the other apps from the windows store whenever you need them. Installing the windows store app itself can be a bit tricky.

8. So if you don't want to remove the windows store app you can use this command instead.
(Powershell command): Get-AppxPackage | where-object {$_.name –notlike "*store*"} | Remove-AppxPackage

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

Now that you've removed all of the bloats from your system it's time to install some essential apps.

4. Installing Apps

Once again you can go about it a long way and install every single piece of software one by one or you can use the handy little tool called Ninite. Ninite is the exact opposite of PC Decrapifier and it allows you to install all essential software in the system in one go. You can download multiple applications at once instead of downloading them one by one and also you can install them all together.

There are a lot of applications available here under different categories.

1. Select the Application that you only installed on your new laptop or pc.

2. Scroll down and Hit Get your Ninite and then all the applications will be downloaded and installed automatically.

And also, if you want any subscription plans for any third-party antivirus softwares, you can download that antivirus software and install it on your pc. But I guess windows defender is sufficient for most people since it is getting a lot better these days. But if you do hold any subscription plans you can download that antivirus software and install it on your pc which can add another layer of security to your laptop and you can protect your laptop from different viruses or threads.

6. Disable Applications

Now you're almost done but you have to do is to modify some settings on your laptop. You can use it as a PC Decrapifier alternative.

1. Open the Task Manager. The shortcut key is Control + Shift + escape or also you can right-click on the Taskbar and here you will find the Task Manager.

2. Go to the Startup's Tab and Disable Applications that you don't necessarily need to be running.

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

Is your computer really safe? Take look at a map that will help you take control of your privacy. Shutup 10 is a handy little tool that collects all of windows 10 security privacy and updates settings and shows them on a single screen. 2. Rename it with this command. just copy and paste.
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

3. As soon as you press enter after entering the new name you will notice that the folder icon changes. Now when you open the folder you will get access to all of the windows 10 settings in the same place.

2. One is that you can let your apps use your advertising id to make ads more interesting to you based on your interests and based on your activity. So you can either Turn it OFF or ON, you can choose to share this data with the developers.

3. Another setting like websites that provides locally relevant content by accessing your language there. So whatever your language as like for example English it would give you the suggestions of different websites according to that. So let's see if your local languages like Chinese, it's going to give you all the suggestions according to Chinese.

4. Third is to let windows track app launches to improve Start and search results. So windows basically would be able to track your different app launches when you launch them and when they start. So based on that information windows could improve your search experience and the app launching experience, so you could Turn it OFF if you want to.

5. And then you have ''Show me Suggested Content in the Settings App''. So you can basically Turn it ON to get the suggestions to the related content that should already be consuming in the settings app.

Now you know all these privacy options. So if you don't want to share some information, you can Turn them OFF. And you can Turn OFF the suggestions as well. In this way, it won't track your data. It won't track anything that you do like related to the things mentioned here and you won't get the suggestions that you would get normally from windows.

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

By default, it is set to Power saver you can switch it to High Performance if you want to get some extra performance. But most of the laptops coming these days come with different modes of performance and if you switch to a different performance mode you will see the power plan automatically switches to high performance.

You can switch to performance mode and to the power saver mode. You switch it to light mode but if your laptop didn't have such different performance modes then you can manually switch to the high-performance mode or know how to enable ultimate performance mode for better performance.

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

25 Things to Do Before Using Your New Laptop or PC

You use the system daily, the working hours you can say. At this time, when you will be using your system, your system will not restart on its own. This means that most of the time our update gets installed in the background and they need the system to be restarted and because of those updates your system gets restarted and most of the time it is very very irritating. So set working hours so that your system does not get restarted during that time. So once you have selected those hours no more restarting during these working hours.

In windows 10 most of the file extensions are hidden and if you are new you might want to see the file extensions because you do not know about the type of files you're working on.
