iPhone Screen Is Too Dark. Here's The Fix!

What to do when your iPhone is too dark?

1. White point settings

Basically, the white point setting is related to the intensity of bright colors on your iPhone screen.

1. Go to Settings
2. Scroll down and tap General
3. Tap Accessibility
4. Tap Display Accommodations

You will see, there's Reduce White Point. First of all, when that switch is and you drag it all the way to the right, it gets really dark. And it's pretty bright when you drag it all the way to the left. And you know, the default is 50%, Let's just turn it off. You should see a big difference. I use Reduce White Point all the time on my iPhone because I like to use my iPhone in bed at night. And even if you put this all the way down on your iPhone, it's still too bright for you to use in bed. So, Turn on reduce white point.

One other thing on an unrelated note that I want to point out real quick is that Apple moved the auto-brightness feature. They stuck it in Display Accommodations in Accessibility Settings. It used to be a lot easier to access. They didn't want people to turn it off is what happened because of auto-brightness, if you keep it on, it will save battery life.

2. Turn up your iPhone brightness

The easiest way to do this, and the way that everybody should know about it, is in Control Center. So if you have an iPhone X or newer, 1. Swipe down from the upper right-hand corner of the screen with your finger.

If you have an iPhone 8 or earlier model, you will swipe up from the bottom of the screen with your finger.

2. So go ahead, slide down. And you will notice the little sun with the vertical slider which is the brightness slider. You can just drag this slider all the way down.

You could also check this in the Settings app. Control Center is the easier way to do it. For sure. Up and down. So you checked the brightness. You already knew how to do that.

3. iPhone accessibility settings

If Zoom is on, check the Accessibility settings, because Zoom is a little bit complicated to set up, and there are so many different things you can do with it. But at the end of the day, if Zoom is ON and set up incorrectly, it can really seriously reduce the brightness of your iPhone screen.

1. Click Settings
2. Click General
3. Accessibility
4. Click  Zoom and turn it off

So if Zoom is on and your screen is super dark, turn zoom off. That might solve the problem right there. Hopefully, it does.

Hit software because at a certain point. We don't know what setting it is that's causing the iPhone screen.

1. So let's go back to Accessibility
2. And back to General
3. Now that you're in general, you can scroll all the way to the bottom to reset.
4. Tap reset, and then Reset All Settings.

This doesn't delete your personal data, but it does wipe out things like Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth devices, So you do have to hook a few things back up, but it's a lot easier than doing a restore. Which is our next step, or going to the Apple Store. It'll save you a lot of time.

5. DFU restore

It's the deepest type of iPhone restore. It takes all the code off, loads it back on. factory default settings.  If the DFU restore doesn't fix your problem, then it can be a hardware issue. And, you know, it could be your display some sort of backlight thing. Apple Store, it's a great choice.

The display has different parts.
So there is the part that controls the touch, and there is the part that is the backlight and the screen. So people would walk into the Apple Store with a screen that was too dark, but they could see what was on it because its backlight was lit or something. but the rest of the phone was working. They could touch it. Then they said, "Why? How do I turn up the brightness?" But they incidentally had also dropped it in a pool or you know, water damage.
